I often have clients ask me why they might want to get an infusion of vitamins and minerals. Hopefully this blog will answer some of those questions, and if you find yourself curious with more questions feel free to come in. I would be happy to answer them for you!
Did your mom make you take a Flintstone vitamin every day as a kid? Mine did! (I used to try and sneak an extra just because I thought they tasted so good.) I think the majority of us know that taking a vitamin every day is good for us, especially in today’s world with the decreased quality of food and increased number of people suffering from “gut issues.” Vitamins and minerals are food for every cell in your body. Your immune system and organs depend on these to function properly.
For example, vitamin C is incredibly important for fighting infection and disease, reducing the duration of the illness, and assisting cells with the recovery process once the body has fought off the offender. Magnesium plays a role in over 300 processes that need to take place in the body for functions such as normal blood pressure and blood sugar levels. Magnesium has also been proven to successfully treat migraines.
One research trial gave 40 patients magnesium sulfate through an IV, and 35 of those patients reported a 50% reduction of pain within 15 minutes! Additionally, magnesium has been proven to improve chronic fatigue syndrome that many patients suffer from daily. A double blind study was done with 15 patients who received magnesium IV weekly for six weeks. Twelve out of the 15 patients stated they had more energy, less pain, and improved mood. Vitamin C and magnesium, along with vitamin B12, B-complex, and calcium, are the base ingredients of every infusion here at Down to Earth Wellness Center. The dosing and other ingredients we add will depend on the symptoms or chronic illness of the individual.
Now you may be thinking “Why can’t I just take an oral supplement?” How you take the vitamin, when you take the vitamin, and what form the vitamin is in can determine how your body is benefiting from these expensive capsules. Sometimes it is not even possible to get your level high enough by taking the vitamin orally. For example, magnesium concentrations in your blood are very difficult to increase with an oral tablet, but giving it intravenously can double or triple the concentration levels. Vitamin C has been shown to fight viruses at a concentration in the body of 10-15 mg/dL. This level is not obtainable by taking oral vitamin C but rather only with higher doses given through the IV.
Thinking about all of this can be overwhelming and increase your stress and fatigue trying to figure it all out. Intravenous infusions are an efficient and effective way to deliver vitamins, nutrients, and fluid directly into the bloodstream allowing for optimal absorption and almost immediate results. We use the highest quality vitamins sourced from a PCAB-accredited compounding pharmacy. There is always a nurse practitioner on site and available to discuss additional symptoms/concerns, and the IV can be further customized to meet the client’s needs.
All the best,
